i get noticed.
Thanks to Barry at Bloggy for the tag. All because my friend in New Jersey started researching these nutty parrots from Argentina that were building troublesome nests on the utility poles around Fort Lee and West New York. There is a nice website that spells out all the facts on the birds.

good article on Mexico City art scene
this is a pretty good overview, though i suspect the problems are bigger, deeper and more complicated. The one thing not mentioned is that Mexico City has a public, New York does not. Thus the DF has endless examples of public art and grass-roots attempts at public art and also, the sense of "public" stands in for a lot that otherwise needs to be fulfilled with art. That is to say that a lot of art is un-necessary here because the city itself has a lot of what art is supposed to have.
Anyway, it is a pretty informative article.

terrific beginning
2 blowhards has a great article on class as it would be nice to start thinking about again, instead of what ever that is people from New York are always contemplating...

Still loving Charlie Finch....
Self-denial, sacrifice, humility, staples of the religious perspective disappear in the obsessive practice of art: the opening, the sale, the dinner, the party. Indeed, these monkish qualities are openly ridiculed by mobster dealers and the museo floozies who succor them.
I would almost want to talk about religion... I am reading Donald Kuspit, not sure I am catching all of it. Not sure I want to. God, I so despise New York centrism.
